Sometimes the reflections are real and not the product of smoke and mirrors. These Tufted Titmice posed perfectly while I gratefully clicked away. I really didn't think much about it at the time but when I looked at the days catch that evening I knew these were destined to be a Reflections post.
There is ice on the ponds and the migrators that have hesitated to leave town must learn to ice skate. I had a jolly morning watching a gang of Swans slowly break out the thin ice of their pond in what I imagine is a time honored technique, namely, walk around till you fall in.
Aren't they amazing birds, what are those birds, not Swans.

ReplyDeleteI think there must have been some smoke and mirrors there somewhere, but you kept them off camera very carefully ... really, you did a phenomenal projecting the mirror image of the titmouse(?if that's what it is?) back into the tree adjacent to the source image... excellent job !!!
And I can't help but wonder if perhaps, just perhaps, you may have a few trace remnants of some Neanderthal DNA somewhere deep in those double helix spirals of genetic material of yours... because they too spent great amounts of time out in all sorts of weather watching wildlife. Their intentions were slightly different... i.e., eating it versus photographing it, but similar behavioral traits are necessary for both...
No, I apologize, I must surely be mistaken, it is surely a simple coincidence.

PS beautiful photos btw. the first two remind me of Porter again... (which is to say I think your work is on an equally high level as his, which is not something I would say lightly... given how deeply I revere his photography)

ReplyDeleteFirst off the gray birds that posed so perfectly for me are Tufted Titmice. But you knew that! And of course then there are the Swans who where walking around on the thin ice.
